The Hybrid Spectrometer (HYSPEC) is a unique instrument at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) whose concept combines advantages of the time-of-flight technique with those of crystal spectrometers. It will also incorporate the polarization analysis of neutron scattering. HYSPEC construction has begun in 2006 with the completion scheduled for 2011.
