Full announcement:
HYSPEC IDT Members,
It has been a while since we last met and the upcoming ACNS presents an
excellent opportunity for many of us. We have reserved the Zia Room at the
Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe for the HYSPEC IDT meeting on Wednesday, May 14,
from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. There are a lot of exciting news on progress of design
and construction of HYSPEC at the SNS, which we want to share with you. It
is a little early to say that "the end is in sight", but there is
"light at the end of the tunnel" (and it is not a freight train)!
The IDT Executive Committee met at the SNS in April to discuss recent
progress, current affairs and future plans, and decided to hold an IDT
meeting at the ACNS in May. The meeting's tentative agenda includes (i) talk
by HYSPEC instrument scientist Mark Hagen who will present you with an
update on the instrument construction, (ii) discussion of technical and
design issues and (iii) discussion of IDT administrative issues, such as
ramping up science program in conjunction with instrument commissioning,
which will begin in 2 years, and interaction with users and the SNS.
We hope to see you at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, in Zia Room at the
Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe. Bring your colleagues and friends so they can
learn about the exciting opportunities for science with HYSPEC.
Sincerely,
Igor Zaliznyak and Steve Shapiro.
